Sparklers on Steroids

sparks

Whoa, look at the sparks fly!  What is this?  A Fourth of July sparkler, grinding wheel, welder?  No, none of these … just a ball of steel wool tied to a string that I swung over my head after setting it on fire.

I never knew steel wool was flammable, but it ignites fairly easily.  (Geez, don’t ask how I found out.)  Swinging the lit ball overhead accelerates the burn and provides a shower of sparks.  At night, it looks like a sparkler on steroids.  The long exposure catches the light trail of sparks flying off the ball of fire.

Leather gloves, protective eye wear and hard hat are strongly recommended.  Kids, don’t try this at home; I’m a professional.

Thought for the Day:  This morning when I put on my underwear I could hear the Fruit of the Loom guys laughing at me.  Rodney Dangerfield

Very cool. I didn’t know that, either. Never considered it.
