Hogback Covered Bridge – Iowa

The 1995 film, “Bridges of Madison County” starring Clint Eastwood and Meryl Streep, made famous this area in south central Iowa.  So, one hot day last August, I meandered through Madison County and saw four of the six covered bridges.

This one is Hogback Covered Bridge, built in 1884 and measures 97 feet long.  It is no longer usable for traffic, even though it was renovated in 1992.  Nice scene, but …

… as the cops say, “Okay folks, let’s move along, nothing to see here.”

Thought for the Day:  No matter what anyone may say about making the rich and corporations pay the taxes, in the end they come out of the people who toil.                                                                                                                                                             Calvin Coolidge
