Modern St. Petersburg

Modern St. Petersburg

An overpass near the cruise ship terminal provides a quick peek of the new St. Petersburg, Russia.  The gull-wing structures in the foreground are light poles for the new eight-lane highway built to handle heavy traffic for the 2018 World Cup.

Russia is the host country for the 2018 World Cup and St. Petersburg is the showplace. The flying saucer-looking structure in the middle right is the new stadium.  The two towers support the suspension bridge for the new highway.

This narrow view of a modernistic skyline is quite a contrast to the wall of drab government high-rise housing that surrounds the charming old city.

Thought for the Day:   We had a very successful trip to Russia — we made it back.                                                                                                                                             Bob Hope
