Mt. Baker

Mt. Baker

One exceptionally clear morning I caught Mt. Baker during sunrise.  I was staying in a vacation home on San Juan Island and happened to crawl out of bed in time for this shot.

At 10,781′, Mt. Baker is the third highest peak in Washington state.  It’s part of the Cascade Mountain Range and lies 31 miles due east of Bellingham, WA.  That makes the mountain approximately 60 miles from where I stood.

The only thing missing in this shot is a breaching whale in the foreground.

Thought for the Day:  The grand show is eternal; it is always sunrise somewhere.                                                                                                                                              John Muir
